its saturday, nearly christmas, what would you rather be doing? shopping, or relaxing in the thermal baths in vals, switzerland designed by peter zumthor. opened in 1996 peter designed a space so simplistic and modern, yet it feel ancient . rather than being built if feels like its been carved out of the rock, it feels natural, like it was always there. the space is dark with the heavy roof that doesn’t touch the walls to let the light filter in. from above it is covered in grass and blends in with the fields. from below it towers like a cliff face of the surrounding mountains. inside it is peaceful and serene and a place to be pampered
