listening to the rain in bed

i have to say i love autumn. here in barcelona we don’t get too many rainy days, but this morning, lying in bed listening to the rain on the rooftop and hearing the distant thunder made me so happy. it’s funny, when you live in london, all you want is the sun, here in barcelona a rainy day can be so beautiful. so it reminded me to post the pictures i took from banyoles last sunday, a trip i made on another of our autumn days. banyoles is a town about 100km away from barcelona, just past the beautiful girona. set in the foot hills of the pyrenees, it is a small town, but the beautiful part is the lake, especialy on a day with mist and a bit of rain, and a beautiful light to match, melancholic and magical. the town touches the lake, but the rest is surrounded but trees and small hills, and dotted around the shore are small houses set into the water, build in the early part of the last century for the wealthy to sit and spend the hot summer days. and i have never seen a lake so clear and such a strange beautiful colour.. in the sun it must be amazing. but on this fresh autumn day, there were people swimming. i thought they must be crazy, but we felt the water and it was like a warm bath. i’ve been trying to find out if it has thermal waters, but without luck.. so maybe its just warm after the summer. so when you come to visit me at openhouse, take a trip to banyoles, and if you have time to go a bit further, besalú and olot are amazing too
