any trip to barcelona will be lost if you don’t visit the german pavilion by mies van der rohe. for me it is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. so small yet so perfect. its lines, the reflections in the water, the splitting of the marble to create patterns, and  “alba” the woman shading her eyes from the sun. when i want a moment to think, i often go and sit up there. and while you are in the area, you can’t miss the caixa forum, a wonderful free gallery, the miro foundation and the mnac. all found just 15 minutes from openhouse, barcelona
